Originally titled, “Brother’s Keeper”, this project has an aura of change in its essence. Again pledging some allegiance to his lasting GarageBand era, where the majority of cye’s early tracks were recorded and produced. The same platform for which he a-credits his production skills due to the simple accessibility to practice on the program. Make no mistake, the audio masters are straight from Brooklyn’s finest.. Andrew Krivonos is listed as the head engineer.

With increasing pressure surely comes higher levels of success and more faith in the plan. The release of ‘NYC in the Backseat’ marked the first glimpse into what ‘The Keeper’ debut album project would entail. Noting the instrumental under his booming vocals was produced by South African beat-maker Walk Among Kings and again filtered through Andrew’s pro audio deck. “The Keeper is a sort of debut album. I prepared for this for more than a decade. And I had to do it in the biggest cities.. The cities that are very much larger than life and operate at another level. I had to do it this way.. in the music capitals of the world. I heard if you can make it in NYC you can make it anywhere.. As far as my music content it’s important to trust Self when expressing the aggression I have.. It’s not easy for us young men without the proper guidance from a young age. A lot of folks are neglected while young and have to build our own sense of awareness while living 15 feet away from another kid going through the same kind of shit… probably worse. And all of these problems are dealt with outside in the streets..” - cye
